Clearly, Clean Windows are Good for Business
From the outside, clean windows maintain your property’s appearance and value. From the inside, occupants appreciate the clear view. Dirty windows not only detract from your building’s appearance but when environmental pollutants, dirt or bird droppings sit on window frames, damage occurs. The cost to restore metal or to waterproof joints can be extensive. Window cleaning on a regular schedule can guard against disgruntled tenants and costly repairs.
Hector S. Garcia founded HSG Professional Window Cleaners in 1980 as a one-man operation. During his initial two years of operation, he performed ground floor retail window cleaning and residential window cleaning. As the business grew, Hector hired other staff and expanded the services offered. Now HSG provides not only window cleaning but exterior maintenance services including building waterproofing, power washing (for buildings and parking areas), metal restoration, bird control, and stage and lift rentals. Today, HSG professionals can be found suspended 52 floors over Los Angeles cleaning the US Bank Building Skyslide or carefully maintaining the Broad Museum exterior “veil.”
HSG Services include:
• Exterior window cleaning for high-rise commercial properties
• Low- and mid-rise window cleaning for smaller office or residential buildings
• Interior window, intricate surface, or light fixture cleaning inside a building
Types of Window Cleaning Access:
Depending on the building’s height, access and type of windows, the methods used to clean the windows varies.
Bosun’s chair
A Bosun’s chair is used to suspend a single cleaner from the roof. The cleaner moves across the building surface using a rope.
Suspended Platform Systems
A system where a suspended platform (also known as swing stage or suspended scaffold) hangs alongside the facade of a building. It hangs from Davit arms, outrigger beams, parapet clamps or another form of anchorage. Two hoists installed on the platform can be operated by the user in order to travel vertically along the facade.
Building Maintenance Unit (BMU)
A Building Maintenance Unit or BMU is a permanent system installed on a building. There are several variations including: overhead trollies (monorails), traversing roof cars, telescopic booms or a combination of the last two. Suspended from the permanent installation is a gondola which can move vertically or horizontally, making it the best solution for tall and wide building facades.
Waterfed Pole Technique
The advantage to the Waterfed Pole Technique or WPT, is that the operator never leaves the ground. Water and a brush are used to “agitate” any window dirt or grime and then purified de-ionised water finishes the process, leaving windows sparkling.
HSG carries the highest insurance in the industry: $10 million. All work is done by HSG employees who’ve been trained extensively on California OSHA guidelines.
Hiring safety-focused, experienced window cleaning experts from HSG pays off in a building that’s well-maintained and less prone to environmental damage. Clearly a good idea.
